
Samson Wiklund
I am a game Game designer and scripter with a background in Interaction/UX/UI situated in Stockholm. After almost ten years working in the peripherals of the gaming industry I finally decided to become a game creator myself.
As a Game designer I put the player first and focus on crafting the best possible experience – using data, tools and years of games analysis to work. I build fast and test often.
My professional background is in interaction design, HCI and UX for marketing tools and web based applications – but simultaneously I have also been analyzing and “spreading the gospel” about games through my work as a game journalist and public speaker.
Working as a UX/UI designer has given me years of experience on communicating with the user, showing true affordances, removing false and hidden ones (when unwanted of course) – and making the act of using an object be pleasurable in itself.
As an Interaction designer I like working with fast prototyping, testing and iteration. Solving issues and problems by trying out ideas fast and finding design flaws early.
When working as a scripter I try to use the tools and situations at hand to shape my designs. Making the best possible outcome withing budgetary limits. I am resourceful and can break down very complex operations into small bite size tasks – by far my greatest strength.
Some of my most rewarding work however is with the games diversity effort Diversi, where I am chair person of the board and also involved in operations.
I am also very happy to have been a part of the movement in gaming press towards a more confident reporting where games are not only looked upon as products but considered works of art.
